15 Half–Day Webinar 2020 Sessions On Practical Construction Contract Administration/Management

With the Movement Control Order (“MCO”) and its extensions by our Government recently to tackle the Coronavirus or Covid-19 pandemic, life must go on under such difficult and uncertain times. Players and personnel in the construction industry must continue to developed/improved and adapt through acquiring commercial and contractual knowledge and skills, including experiential learning. Under such unfortunate circumstances, PAM & RISM through their Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Committee in collaboration with BK Entrusty have decided to reorganise this series of training seminar via webinar due to the movement control restriction.

This series is a continuation of the 15 sessions, launched in February 2020, of which only the first 2 sessions were conducted face-to-face at PAM Centre, before MCO commenced. Consequently, the first 2 sessions are repeated at the end of the remaining 13 sessions. There are fifteen (15) comprehensive training sessions in this programme, covering a comprehensive contract administration/management topics, including related case law updates with Q&A discussion relating to each topic / session duration about 2 ½  – 3 hours session.

This specifically targeted training programme combines construction contract and technical knowledge with practical experience and skills with work-related discussions, including the Trainer sharing his experience through past economic downturns/recessions. This impending economic downturn/recession is likely to be the most severe, both locally and globally.

Each session is stand-alone, incorporating primarily Malaysian standard forms of contract, in particular PAM 2006/2018 and JKR/PWD contracts. These sessions will be different compared to the previous similar sessions conducted under MBAM and PAM as the emphasis will be on MCO and difficult uncertain times ahead.

Nine Full Day Sessions Training Programme 2019 on PRACTICAL CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT ADMINISTRATION/MANAGEMENT

In view of the needs for players and personnel in the construction industry to continually acquire relevant knowledge and experience, this training programme has been designed by combining construction contract and technical knowledge with practical experience and skills through training/lectures with practical and work related discussions.

There are nine (9) comprehensive training sessions in this programme, covering a wide spectrum of construction contract administration and management topics, including updates related to construction case law, which affect and are of interest to the various industry players. In addition, at the end of each session, there will be a Workshop/Q&A discussion relating each topic presented.
Most sessions are stand-alone session, based on BK Entrusty series of construction contract and management articles in areas of project, commercial, contracts, risks, quality, value and the like, published in MBAM Journal since 2002 until 2018. Primary reference will be made to the Malaysian standard forms of contract i.e. PAM, IEM, JKR, CIDB and common international contract, the New Engineering Contract (NEC). Peripheral reference will be made to the new Malaysian contract, PAM Contract 2018 and AIAC Standard Form of Building Contract 2019 Edition. Participants are encouraged to raise their contractual issues/problems for discussion during Workshop/Q&A session.

1st Session of Practical Construction Contract Administration/Management Seminar

We are pleased to announce that our first session of Practical Construction Contract Administration/Management Seminar is to be held on 5 December 2013. The title for the seminar is ‘Procurement Systems, Tendering, Contractual Arrangement and Obligations’ by Sr. Ong Hock Tek.

This seminar is organised by Royal Institution of Surveyors Malaysia (QS Division) in collaboration with BK Entrusty and endorsed by Board of Quantity Surveyor Malaysia (BQSM), Master Builders Association Malaysia (MBAM), Persatuan Arkitek Malaysia (PAM), Institution of Engineer Malaysia (IEM) and Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB). This seminar is a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) program.

6 Sessions Of Practical Construction Contract Administration/Management

In view of the needs for players and personnel in the construction industry directly or indirectly to continually acquire relevant knowledge and experience, this training programme has been designed by combining theoretical knowledge with practical experience and skills through a lecture cum workshop approach or action learning approach. There are twelve (12) comprehensive modules in this programme which each session covers two modules, covering the whole spectrum of construction contract administration and management.

Each module is stand-alone and based on a certain area/s of construction contract and /or its administration/management which relate to Malaysian standard forms of contract such as PAM, IEM, JKR and CIDB. Each module comprises of seminar and group discussion using practical examples. Participants are encouraged to raise their contractual issues/problems for discussion at the session.
